Dear followers,
as mentioned in the last burlesque entry, Laura Harrison and I were very excited at the prospected of finally sitting down and talking to Sarah Bell (Kinky) last Friday (25th Sep) at the Kinky and Quirky Burlesque and Boogie Night.
We arranged to go and have coffee and a chat about our placement on the 29th Sep, the Tuesday just gone.
I took my Dictaphone along and recorded the entire conversation between the four of us (Laura Harrison, Sarah and Mark Bell and I). The sound clips for this interview are on their way, I just have to find a program and edit the whole 2 hours of it!!
During the conversation though, we talked about what Sarah wanted out of us, and visa-versa. We talked about the history of how her husband and herself came to put on these shows, and why they choose burlesque. The specific clients they try and aim for thorough advertising and marketing, their target audience. How they have tried many venues until they felt they found one that would suit their needs. Some of the problems that have arose over the last year or so since they've started up.
In short, it was an extremely positive chat, with many good possibility's for Laura and I to think over.
Sarah gave us some tasks to complete for our next visit (13Th Oct), and that is to find business' and companies in and around Exeter and such that would be interested in coming to the Christmas shows. I suggested we build a database of contacts to make it easily accessable. The second task was to find advertising websites on the Internet that give information about up and coming events.
I feel very positive that I pursued with Kinky and Quirky and Laura and I feel that we both have found an honest duo that would benefit from our help, but who could also show us a few things about how to set up a burlesque night.
Things are going well!!
Keep smiling
