Burlesque!

Dear followers!
As mentioned in my proposal right at the start of this blog, one of the genres of performance I was keen on getting involved with was burlesque.
I have always admired burlesque performers (especially traditional sensual teasing) and would consider becoming a burlesque performer for part of my career.
Living in the West Country does have it's drawback's. I found it difficult to find a company or troop this side of London. Because burlesque is almost a dying art, there are not many places where you will find it on a regular basis, unless you live to the north.
I was however given a number of a duo who displayed performances of burlesque and gave workshops and the like in Exeter, the nearest city to where I live.
This duo was called Kinky and Quirky. http://www.myspace.com/kinkyandquirky
After getting in touch with them, myself and Laura Harrison decided to go along to one of their shows, held at Havana, on the quay in Exeter every last Saturday in the month. (for more info, check out the myspace page.)
We (Laura and myself) are hoping to do some PA work with Kinky and Quirky, or front of house ect. I would personally love to do some actual burlesque performances, but maybe that's to come!
So below, I have drawn up my A&O, if we are going to do a placement with K&Q:
  1. To gain confidence in myself and my abilities to perform tasks.
  2. To understand how to put on a burlesque show, from complete start to finish.
  3. To gain knowledge of performers out there whose material is not considered 'mainstream'.
Below are some photos of some of the nights out at the burlesque shows we have been to.
Watch this space to see if we do get some work our way. . .
